Large, highly scented semi-double flowers open white and become pink-flushed later in the spring. The award-winning ‘Shizuka’ is a medium, vase-shaped, deciduous tree with bronze-coloured spring foliage that turns mid-green in midsummer and then orange in the autumn.
- Garden care: Plant ‘Shizuka’ as soon as conditions allow (avoiding frozen and waterlogged soil). Choose a sheltered spot to protect emerging blossom. Incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake and support firmly. Prune in summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf and bacterial canker. Cut back any dead, diseased or crossing branches.
